TOURIST INFORMATION CENTRE INAUGURATED IN RI BHOI DISTRICT
Shillong, July 23, 2010: In order to provide information and assistance to the tourists, both domestic and international, the Tourist Information Centre (TIC) was inaugurated by the Minister incharge of Education and Tourism, Mrs. Ampareen Lyngdoh at Umlyngkdait, Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi District on July 22, 2010 in presence of the Meghalaya Chief Secretary, Mr. W M S Pariat, Commissioner & Secretary, Tourism Department, Mrs. R V Suchiang, Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Mr. Akash Deep Singh, Director of Tourism, Mrs. R C Sohkhlet and all District Heads.
The Centre is the first entry point which will serve as an introduction to the tourist destinations in the State. The TIC will also provide tourist with information on important features of the State, landmarks and sites, besides general information which includes fooding and lodging, transportation, etc. The TIC also received complaints and suggestions for improvement.
