APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR PADMA AWARDS
Shillong, July 8, 2010: The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District has informed the general public that Padma Awards, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri will be announced on the occasion of Republic Day, 2011. The Awards seek to recognize work of any distinction and are given for distinguished and exceptional achievements/service in all fields of disciplines such as Art, Literature and Education, Sports, Medicines, Social Work, Science and Engineering, Public Affairs, Civil Service, Trade and Industry etc. All persons without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex are eligible for these awards.
Intending individuals from the District who desire their names to be recommended to the Government for the Award are required to send their nominations to the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, on or before 24th August, 2010.
